2/3 cup undiluted carnation evaporated milk
1 2/3 cup sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 cups (16 medium diced marshmallows) or small marshmallows
1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate pieces
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup chopped nuts
Mix milk, sugar and salt in saucepan over low heat. Heat until boiling, then cook 5 minutes stirring constantly. Remove from heat.
Add marshmallow, chocolate pieces, vanilla and nuts. Stir 1-2 minutes (until marshmallows are melted) pour into buttered 9-inch pan.
Let set before cutting. I usually put the pan in the refrigerator for a while to speed up the process. Cut into squares and store in air-tight container. This recipe can also be frozen for later use.
(1 small can carnation milk and 1 pkg. chocolate chips make this recipe)
I got this recipe in my 8th grade homemaking class and have been making it ever since. It’s very easy to make and turns out great every time. It has become one of my family’s favorite Christmas traditions.
